Making the world a kinder place

There are many issues worth advocating for, and a lot of work that needs doing. But there are a few issues that live especially close to my heart, and to which I bring more experience and deeper knowledge.

Environmental justice & education
Environmental destruction is one of the most urgent issues facing our world. Growing up amidst the California wildfires, and going on to work on flood cases as a lawyer, I’ve gained some clarity about what we’re in for. The widespread exploitation of our world for its resources is violent and unsustainable, with massive and tragic collateral damage. We need to both mitigate both what’s coming, and heal from the harm of what’s already been done, and we need to act now. From carbon emissions to land sovereignty to rewilding, this wide-ranging issue is critical to our survival as a species and our collective liberation.

Queer and gender-based justice
As an afab trans-nonbinary queer person, queer rights, trans rights, and gender equity all hit very close to home for me. Rigid and hierarchical gender expectations hurt everyone, and all people benefit when we dismantle patriarchal systems and protect and support those oppressed by them. Feminism and queer rights must also be intersectional to succeed. None of us are free until all of us are free.

Disability justice
I’ve been chronically ill since grade school, and more recently have started to unpack my own ableism, internalized and otherwise. I’m learning a lot from folks like Imani Barbarin and Eli Clare, and I want to play my own small part in meeting more people’s access needs. So, whether you have an org focused on disability justice, or whether you want the disabled community to have more access to your offerings…let’s talk!

A note: If you like what you see here but your nonprofit addresses a different issue, you are still welcome to contact me. Let’s have a conversation and see if we’re a good fit. There are many ways to build a kinder and more interdependent world.
